Today, April 3, is SlutWalk’s 1 year Anniversary! Join us in marking April 3 an International Day Against Victim-Blaming!
In the last year, we have seen amazing international collective action fighting against victim-blaming and fighting for respect and support of all survivors of sexual violence. In recognition of these efforts and many other ongoing actions, we mark April 3rd, 2012 as the first International Day Against Victim-Blaming.
We invite you to join an online day of action for the International Day Against Victim-Blaming. Start conversations, take a stand, and take up space on April 3rd to fight for our right to live free of violence and victim-blaming. Join us in our mission to spread the word that those who experience sexual violence are never the ones at fault.
(Psst—an easy way to take action today is by changing your profile picture on Facebook or Tumblr! You can change it to the one above and make a post to let everyone know why you care about this Day Against Victim-Blaming.)

Presenting the Official SlutWalk Seattle Hall of Shame

As many of you know, with tens of thousands of Facebook users invited, the SlutWalk Seattle 2011 Facebook event page became something of an ad hoc public debate forum. Hour after hour, from the page’s launch in April to the event two months later, the page was under siege from The People You Meet When You Write About Rape. Fortunately, SWS supporters rose to the challenge of answering the throngs of misogynist trolls. It was a productive and rewarding (if exasperating) experience. In addition to sharpening our arguments and building solidarity, debating gave us a number of unintentional comedic gems. The very best of them have been preserved here for your enjoyment.

I am tired of being told that “a key that unlocks many locks is a good key, but that a lock that can be unlocked by many keys is a bad lock”. I am tired of the fact that nobody who says this has ever been able to tell me what it is that needs to be locked up. I am tired of being told “your boobs are awesome, you should show them of “. I am tired of being told that “that looks a little slutty”. I am tired of being told that I shouldn’t be a prude, but I shouldn’t be slutty. I am tired of that nobody seems to be able to explain how to do so. I am tired of being told that I can just say no, and I am tired of being told “come on, you know you want to”. I am tired of being told “But we HAVE equality!
I don’t want to be a feminist anymore.
